I see a lot of posts referring to Gen Z telling Mom she is not cool and just old.
Generation Z defined by Wikepedia:
Generation Z (or simply Gen Z), colloquially known as zoomers, is the demographiccohort succeeding Millennials and preceding Generation Alpha. Researchers and popular media use the mid-to-late 1990s as starting birth years and the early 2010s as ending birth years. Most members of Generation Z are the children of Generation X, but some are children of millennials.
What is being said:
Gen Z TikTok users say side parts and skinny jeans are no longer in style.
Middle parts and straight leg or boot cut jeans are the way to go.
Those who don't follow this are old.
I understand these kids are just trying to find their own style, their own identification... separating themselves from their parents. It's a normal phase. Yet....
Too many moms, even younger than me (I'll be 49 in a few days), are saying how their daughter's or such posts are making them feel old, uncool, or out of touch with style.
Well Gen Z... I think you need to look back into the 70s where the middle part was all the rage and 80s when it made a comeback. Boot cut jeans (and bell bottoms) were in style in the 60s. Don't believe me? Ask your mom, your grand-mother, your older aunt even, or do your own research. 😎
Styles come and go...
They come back with some tweaks to make them fresh and new. Then they leave to come back again a few years later. Rinse, repeat. These NEW styles were brought in way back by your the adults you may think are "uncool".
My point is:
I guess my point is, let your Mom be herself and don't make her feel bad about it. Find your "own" style and just be you. Be original. Whatever that is to you.🥰. We all deserve to express ourselves however we feel is truest to who we are.. without fear of judgement from others.
